The Matai lounge and dining room is the ideal place to relax and unwind. Find a quiet corner to read a book, check your emails or just admire the beautiful views across the gardens to the mountains beyond. Where better to share your experiences with friends, fellow guests or your hosts over a glass of wine or afternoon tea including home-made delights.

The lounge is warm and welcoming with a huge log fire blazing through the winter months to keep you warm and cosy. In the summer we open up the giant bi-fold glass doors so you can experience the fabulous indoor outdoor flow and feel part of the stunning scenery we are so lucky to call home. Leather suites, oriental rugs collected on our travels, local art and mood lighting create a comfortable ambience where you can unwind or plan the next stage of your journey through this beautiful part of New Zealand. And, if you want to take in a movie, review your own photos or listen to your favourite tunes we have a 50” flat screen TV, DVD and audio player for you to use during your stay.

Paul & Berny are always available to advise you on the best local activities, the best restaurants and are happy to make reservations for you. We have a wealth of knowledge and information on-hand so you can investigate other areas of New Zealand, look up Maori history, check out the local bird population or choose which walking track to explore.
